I don’t know who I am anymore. I don’t think I need to know.
hey jsyk while hellofresh is dummy expensive and i wouldn’t reccomend it if you already know how to cook (if you’re a beginner like i was when i had it for 3 months, then it’s worth it), you should know that ALL OF THEIR RECIPES are free on their website and they all fuck hard
i will say that all the cooking instructions for veggies are pretty much the same (season with salt + pepper and roast on the top oven rack at 425F), but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
that being said, it also introduced me to methods i wasn’t at all expecting. i would have never thought to use cream cheese in my meat sauce, and now all my friends are constantly asking me to make my special rigatoni.
happy cheffin! :)
I am a person who uses Hello Fresh for realsies because it is a bit cheaper than groceries here and definitely cheaper than takeout, but we also remake the recipes when we want a specific one and don’t want to wait for it to come around in the rotation again, and therefore I know The Secret Translations of Proprietary Ingredients:
- “Cream sauce base” = make a roux, add milk according to how much cream sauce base you’re supposed to have (ex: 4 oz cream sauce base = 4 oz milk)
- “1 packet stock concentrate” = either one tablespoon Better than Bullion or, if you want to be really accurate, Savory Choice Broth Concentrate packets are available on Amazon and allegedly that’s what they use
- “Italian Heat Spice”/“Blackening Spice”/“Fry Seasoning”/etc.: I promise you someone on Reddit has figured out what spices they use and in what proportions for each mix, if it’s not just a straight up branded mix (like McCormick Grill Mates Brown Sugar Bourbon spice mix)
- “Roasted Garlic Herb Butter” (and other compound butters, like truffle butter) = they’re literally Epicurean branded butters, they do not hide this, you can buy them online
- “Sweet Soy Glaze”/“Ponzu sauce”/“Hoisin sauce” = literally Kikkoman brand condiments: they don’t hide that, either
- “Sweet Thai chili sauce” = any sweet Thai chili sauce from the grocery store will do. We use Blue Dragon or Taste of Thai because that’s what we can get in our grocery store.
blue apron also has recipes on their website! i use it regularly to steal ideas when meal planning for the week.
Nearly two decades later, I think it just fully hit me why Iroh told Zuko’s crew about how he got his scar. It wasn’t just to say, “Have some sympathy for him, he had a hard childhood.” It was because the crew were all upset (rightfully so) that Zuko had said, “The safety of the crew doesn’t matter.” and Iroh was trying to point out that, yes, what Zuko had said was wrong, but that’s not what he really thinks, at least, that’s not what he used to think. There was a time when Zuko cared about the safety of soldiers he had never even met, so much so that he spoke out of turn, which is what led to the domino effect that caused all of them to be sitting on that ship together. And this is brought full-circle when Zuko climbs the ladder to help the helmsman at the end of the episode. And that’s when the crew realizes that, temperament aside, Zuko actually has been and is still willing to put everything on the line for the safety of others.
zeus is so bold commenting on poseidon having a forbidden kid as if he doesn’t have TWO: one who is currently a tree and the other who’s being raised by wolves. be serious
This is a monumental failing by the Avatar live-action show runners.
Your favourite characters can (and should) be flawed. A massive part of Sokka’s character arc in season 1 is specifically on his sexism and how he faces it.
If you tone that part down, you’re toning down the role of the Kyoshi warriors who hand his arse to him because he thinks he can easily beat them.
“We’ve noticed that this character doesn’t begin the series as a pure and flawless paragon of virtue, but instead begins with a notable flaw which is addressed and overcome during the course of the story as one of his main character arcs. We’ve fixed this ‘problem’ by removing that character arc and having him start out perfect so you don’t have to go through the horror of seeing a person grow and change over the course of their adventures.✌️”
It’s just such a wild way to look at any media.
Removing all the conflict out of a story, ruins the story. I don’t want squeaky clean characters, I want characters who overcome their flaws, and I also want irredeemable characters who are dickheads.
It’s like putting the cart before the horse, you can’t have Sokka be immediately likeable and perfect. People like him because they’ve seen his character arc.
Sooo what is he supposed to learn when he meets Suki and the Kyoshi warriors???
If you want an awesome drink that tastes awesome I recommend 50/50 Tabasco sauce and Fireball.
Fuck that. 1:1 Fireball and cinnamon coffee creamer. I call it dragon cum.
We should make out.
bad post. terrible job, girls. hit the showers.
We should soap each other up nakedly.
obviously, so long as you go.
Things that are going to happen in 2024 according to Star Trek:
1) the absolutely giant homeless-population of the USA (or was is just New York? Idk, I‘m from Europe) is going to start a civil-war fighting against the upper class and police.
2) Ireland is going to get united
